Our Story
Christine, originally from Berwyn, PA, just a few miles away from Cornerstone, grew up working in restaurants before embarking on a successful career in the bio pharmaceutical industry spanning from Manhattan to London. However, the lure of the kitchen and crafting memorable experiences with food became too strong, bringing her back to her roots. Christine became a private chef while also launching her culinary experience business The ACK Experience on Nantucket and Farm & The Fork in New England. It was on the island of Nantucket, 30 miles out to sea that she met Nick in 2010.
Originally from Syracuse, NY, Nick grew up in the restaurant business working for his aunt and uncle who owned a multi-generational restaurant. After college he began a successful career in finance. The culinary and cooking itch kept coming back to him and in 2009, Nick left his corporate career to follow his passion and enrolled at Le Cordon Bleu in Cambridge, Massachusetts (the same school Julie Child enrolled in Paris!). When it came time for his externship, Nick ended up at the famous Straight Wharf Restaurant under the esteemed chefs, Gabriel Frasca, Amanda Lydon and Mayumi Hattori. It was cooking at Straight Wharf Restaurant [rated one of the “Top Seafood Restaurants in America” in 2012 by Travel & Leisure] where he met and found a kindred spirit in Christine. They agreed that every meal should be an experience. From there the love story of not only Christine and Nick began, but the development and immense love and passion for this industry.
Chefs Christine and Nick Kondra’s history of culinary adventures is a key ingredient to the mission of Cornerstone from the beginning.
The belief that hospitality should present authentically and patrons should always be treated as guests, has endlessly inspired the progression of Cornerstone over the past 9 years since 2015.
