    the countdown is on

    open again on 10.27.17

It’s been a busy 3 weeks since we closed for initial renovations in preparation for our upcoming expansion. We participated in the James Beard Taste America event with Chef Marc Murphy, organized Sonoma Strong to provide relief for those impacted by California wildfires, took part in local events with Philly Bloke and Revivalist Gin, and traveled to Nantucket with our team. Check out our Instagram to see our adventures and follow us for more! We can’t wait to open our doors again this Friday, October 27th for dinner service and back to regular hours after that.
Then let the countdown begin to mid-January of 2018… when we unveil a luxurious new dining area featuring a full bar offering a craft cocktail and wine program focused on genuine hospitality with a classic take on cocktails and wines that are designed to complement the menus. Also, don’t miss Wayne’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Friday, Decmeber 1st at 7:30pm – we’ve got the best seats in the house!

Only a few seats are left for the Tuesday evening of our upcoming Chef’s Series featuring our friend Chef Patrick Soucy. With a deep appreciation for highlighting the flavors of New England’s seacoast, his focus is on the re-introduction of heirloom seed saving, slow food, fermentation, growing, hunting, and harvesting directly from the field to the plate. His thirst for culture recently led him to Spain and France to explore wine regions, seafood & the art of charcuterie. He is the recipient of a 2014 Star Chefs Rising Star Chef Award, and has cooked at the James Beard House. Patrick will be bringing his unique approach to the Cornerstone Chef’s Counter – highlighting the flavors of New England and the Mid-Atlantic through beautiful seasonal vegetables, fresh pastas and game meats.

    cornerstone & friends

As many of you remember, Tim Bodell, Executive Chef of Francis Ford Coppola’s Rustic joined us back in October 2015 for Cornerstone’s Inaugural Chef’s Series. For us, there was truly nothing more special than being able to celebrate this 3-day inaugural event with a dear friend of Christine’s since they were both 16 years old, Tim attending St. Joseph’s Prep and Christine attending The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur. The memorable evenings were shared with our guests, Tim’s parents who still reside in Ardmore, PA and his wife Emery Bodell – who at the time was the Director of Hospitality for Gary Farrell Vineyard, currently the Director of Hospitality for Paul Hobbs Winery.

Every August when we close, we visit and share more memories together with the Bodell Family on the Sonoma Coast and Santa Rosa. The Bodell’s along with industry friends from Philadelphia have introduced us to an amazing group of families, farmers, chefs and vintners in Sonoma and Napa over the past 3 years.

In the early morning hours of October 9, 2017 Tim, Emery and their son Declan were abruptly awoken to smoke filling their home from fires that were just outside their door without any warning. That morning the Bodell family lost everything except the clothes on their back. This is just one of thousands of stories of families whom have lost their homes, cars and businesses over the past weeks. The devastation level is something that is incomprehensible for many of us.

This is our time to come together to support families like the Bodell’s and many others that have been devastated by the Northern California wildfires of 2017. We have formed the “Sonoma Strong” 501(c)3 – status is pending and will be approved in the coming weeks.

Join us for an evening of support for our friends and family in Sonoma County and the North Bay area of California that have been so devastated by the wildfires of 2017. Your attendance and donations will provide a direct contribution to help families and farmers, who have lost their homes and more, to regain a sense of security. In preparation for Thanksgiving, let’s join together in the name of #SONOMASTRONG for a beautiful event to give back to those truly in need.

    growth is good

(Drumroll, please…) It’s with the utmost excitement that we announce a breakthrough expansion (literally) into the space next door, to offer a luxurious new dining area with a full bar! While the Cornerstone chef’s counter you all know and love will remain the same, we’re humbled to be joining the lineup of excellent bars in Wayne with this new addition. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes on building a craft cocktail and wine program that is focused on genuine hospitality, with a classic take on cocktails and wines that complement our menus. Don’t worry, we’re still maintaining our original BYOB status – so, you’ll still be able to bring your own as well as indulging in what we have to offer.* Rest assured, we’ll be applying the same thoughtful attention to each and every glass that’s poured as we do to the plates and boards we’re known for. As they say, all good things come to those who wait… While we will re-open after initial construction on October 27th, the new space will still be a work in progress and (hopefully) open in January 2018. In true Cornerstone spirit, we’ll be making the most of the time that our doors are closed: Follow us over the next three weeks, as we travel to Nantucket to treat our team to the island which inspired and shaped us, showing them where our roots lie.

This Saturday, September 16th, we’ll be closed as we attend the 4th annual Honey Bash Gala at JG Domestic in the Cira Centre. This event is extremely close to our hearts, as Christine Doherty Kondra and her sister, Erin Kreszl founded The Bee Foundation in May 2014 inspired by the sudden passing of their cousin, Jennifer Sedney, due to a ruptured brain aneurysm. The Bee Foundation strives to raise awareness of brain aneurysms and increase funding for innovative research that saves lives. Since its start, The Bee Foundation has raised over $500,000 dollars and has awarded 4 preventative research grants with researchers at leading medical institutions.
